Parents in districts opening with partial or fully virtual offerings are scrambling to find educational alternatives to help their students make the best of the 2020/2021 school year. The following organizations can provide in-person enrichment while overseeing virtual learning from school districts, in-person or virtual tutoring, virtual music classes, and in-person STEAM programs.
YMCA of Bucks County provides flexible 2, 3, and 5-day child care options to meet your schedule and support your child’s academic requirements in a safe, fun environment! Their qualified staff will support children in completing their online learning. Plus, your child’s day will include physical activity, sports and games, STEAM projects, critical thinking challenges and plenty of socialization and fun! The program will follow our safety protocols as approved by the Bucks County Department of Health including daily health and temperature checks, social distancing, frequent hand washing, and mask-wearing for staff and children while indoors and when social distancing is not possible outdoors. The North Penn YMCA has a new program to support virtual learners for students in the North Penn, Souderton Area, and Perkiomen Valley School Districts. The Child Care for Virtual Learners program for K-5th/6th graders (depending on district) will run Monday through Friday from 7 am until 5/6 pm with flexible options beginning with each districts start dates. Programs will be offered at all three branches: Harleysville YMCA Early Childhood Center, Indian Valley Family YMCA, and Lansdale Area Family YMCA. The goal is to provide children a space where they can attend virtual classes while being supervised by Y staff in a healthy and safe environment. The North Penn YMCA is following state and local health requirements and has adapted several changes to its day-to-day operations, including: daily health screenings for children and staff; reduced capacity in group activities; frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing; and cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the day.

Dr Levinowitz will also lead presentations for all the parents in the group, on topics such as using the Music Together songbook to support pre-literacy development.
